Questions

Which broadband technology is fastest?

The speed of broadband service you will receive depends upon many different factors. Each technology has its own strong points. When you request a quote from ShopforDSL.com, you will be presented with a list of all available speeds and classes of service. As a general rule, the higher the available speed, the higher the cost.

Which broadband technology is the least expensive?

Again, this can depend upon many different factors. In some areas of the country, DSL service may be cheaper than cable modem service. In a different part of the country, the opposite may be true. That's why we customize each quote for your particular location.

What are the advantages and disadvantage of satellite broadband service?

The most unique aspect of satellite broadband service is its almost universal availability. It is available in areas of the country that are not wired for telephone service, cable service or even electricity. The service is also portable. It is possible to move your installation from one place to another, regardless of where you live in the United States. The biggest disadvantage of satellite broadband service is generally its price. Due to the limited bandwidth that is currently available via satellite, rates can be higher than with DSL or cable modem service. There may also be a substantial up-front cost for satellite transmission and reception equipment. These prices are always included in your ShopforDSL.com quotation, so that you can make an "apples to apples" comparison against competing technologies.

What type of computer and software will I need?

Each individual quote will include minimum computer and software requirements. These will vary between different vendors and technologies.

How will I be billed?

Once you have signed-up for broadband service using ShopforDSL.com, the actual service will be provided by the individual vendor that you choose. At that point, you are a direct customer of that particular vendor and they will bill you using the terms described in their online service agreement.

Who provides customer service and technical support?

All customer service, billing and technical support will be provided by the vendor that you choose to sign-up with. ShopforDSL.Com and Commission River, Inc. can provide you with quotations and answer any pre-sales questions you may have.
